i have few south indian clients, who had 8th house like jupiter rahu, so i suggested tarpan to ancestors as it was pitra paksh.

all of them suggested they dont do tarpan as a ritual in south india however my dad always said that pind and trapan sanskars are the most important sanskar for an individual, so why is south india Kannadigas not doing, or doing something else instead of tarpan.
